it wouldn't be the christmas season without...

COOKIES!

i don't know about you, but there's just something about a twinkly christmas tree, a good christmas song, a yummy-smelling candle, and a cookie in my hand that makes me want to say 'happy birthday, Jesus!'

as i've mentioned before, the kitchen isn't particularly my favorite room of the house and the tasks that take place in there aren't particularly my favorite tasks, but something gets into me during the month of december. i want to make cookies! (ok, i want to EAT cookies, which first involves making them.) after all, they do say that a balanced diet is a cookie in each hand. i hold tightly to this philosophy.

there's a certain recipe i've adopted as our family's official christmas cookie. i've shared the recipe here a couple christmases ago and i thought i'd refresh everyone's memory. unfortunately, i haven't been able to make these yet this year. living overseas sometimes means not having certain ingredients at hand. but as soon as our incoming package arrives with my rollo candies, we'll be in business!

so if you happen to be fortunate enough to have rollos sitting on your grocery store's shelf right now, i suggest you go snag some and give these a try. (and if you're like me and don't have easy access to all the yummy american chocolate you desire, they can be made without rollos and be just a good, chocolate cookie, but then they're not worth nearly as much.)

happy christmas season!
