what's for dinner?

so i've been way behind on all things electronic lately, but in case you're like me and wonder what's for dinner a lot, i thought i'd post a recipe that i use regularly. this recipe has come about from much trial and error on my part :).

made-from-scratch-but-still-so-easy spaghetti sauce

ingredients:

4-6 whole tomatoes (depending on amount you're making and size of tomatoes. 4 large tomatoes is more than enough to feed my family of 4.)

tomato paste

1 big onion

2-4 cloves of garlic (depending on your taste)

green peppers (optional)

salt and pepper

basil

garlic powder (optional)

ground beef (optional)

if you're using beef, brown ground beef and drain. chop and saute onion, garlic cloves, and green pepper (i throw the green pepper in if i happen to have some extra. it adds great texture and color). blend tomatoes in blender or food processor (i actually prefer the blender because i can leave some larger chunks in and can forego the can of diced tomatoes. add tomatoes to sauteed veggies. add spoonfuls of tomato paste until you've reached the consistency you like (just a little if you like your sauce thick. if it's too thick, you may need to blend a couple more tomatoes.) season to taste with salt, pepper, and basil. i usually add a couple dashes of garlic powder because we're a garlic loving family. serve over your favorite shaped noodles with some yummy buttered bread.

and as we say in our neck of the woods, afiyet olsun!*

*bon appetit! i'm so sad we don't seem to have an english equivalent of this. eat hearty? nah, it's just not the same.
